Chainimals is a strategy NFT game on Base. Hatch unique creatures from mystery eggs, build your roster, and compete in battles and tournaments for actual Ethereum. No new tokens, no pay-to-win. Just skill, strategy, and your creatures.
Getting started is pretty simple. Here is the basic loop.
Purchase a mystery egg NFT. Each one holds a random Chainimal waiting to hatch. You can also trade eggs before opening them.
Open the egg to reveal your Chainimal. Stats, species, ability, and passive are all randomized on-chain. Every hatch is genuinely unique.
Take your Chainimal into PvP battles, enter ETH prize tournaments, and climb the leaderboards. Strategy wins here, not your wallet.
Win battles, place in tournaments, rank on leaderboards, breed offspring to sell. All rewards come in ETH, straight to your wallet.
There is a lot going on under the hood. Here is a breakdown of the main systems.
Stats (HP, Attack, Defense, Speed) are each randomly rolled 1 to 99 on-chain. Your Chainimal also gets a species-locked ability and a random passive. Nobody else has the exact same creature as you.
Normal, Holo, and Prismatic are just visual variants. They have zero effect on stats or battles. A Normal Chainimal with great stats will always beat a Prismatic one with bad stats. Skill and strategy win here.
Pay an entry fee in ETH to compete in structured tournaments. PvP, Collection, Breeding, and Expedition categories. Prize pools go to the top finishers. Real stakes, which keeps it genuinely competitive.
Multiple global leaderboards track different playstyles: PvP Rating (ELO system), Collection Value, Net Worth, and Activity Score. Top players each season earn ETH rewards, with filters for All Time or Last 30 Days.
Join or start a guild and compete in team battles for seasonal ETH prizes. Guilds have a treasury, role hierarchy (Master, Officer, Veteran, Member), and a guild chat to coordinate strategy.
Breed two Chainimals of the same species to get an offspring with averaged stats plus some variation. Both parents are permanently burned. The supply shrinks as more players breed, which matters for long-term value.
Send Chainimals on timed expeditions to earn Evolution Stones, Breeding Essence, and rare items. Higher-rated Chainimals have better success rates and unlock bonus rewards.
Eggs are tradeable NFTs before you even open them, so you can speculate or flip. Chainimals have full OpenSea support with verifiable on-chain metadata and 5% royalties on secondary sales.
Every species in the game has its own unique ability. The combination of your species ability, random passive, and stats is what makes team-building and strategy actually deep.
Chainimals has a built-in referral system. Share your referral link and get a cut every time someone buys through it. The person you refer gets a discount on their first purchase too. It is a pretty good deal for everyone involved.
Every purchase made through your link earns you a 3% royalty, tracked automatically on-chain.
Anyone who uses your referral link gets 20% off their first egg purchase. Good motivation to actually use the link.
Track all your referral earnings in the dashboard with a full history of every purchase made through your link.
Eggs come in tiers based on their generation: Standard, Premium, and Legendary. Higher tiers give you better odds on stats and abilities. You choose what you are going for when you buy.
Base generation eggs. Good starting point for new players building their roster.
Better stat ranges and improved chances at strong ability combinations.
The highest tier. Best odds at top-tier stats and rare passives.
Everything runs on ETH. No tokens to manage, no liquidity games.
Multiple paths to ETH depending on how you like to play.
Breeding is deflationary by design. Both parents are permanently burned when you breed. The total supply of Chainimals can only ever go down as more people play.
The whole game runs on Ethereum. No $CHANI token to track, no liquidity risks, no complicated swaps.
Eggs and Chainimals are standard ERC-721 NFTs. Trade them on OpenSea at any time, including sealed eggs before you even open them.
Genesis eggs are the first generation. Breeding burns them permanently and they will never be re-issued. As the player base grows and more Chainimals get bred away, the originals become genuinely rare. Not marketing talk, just how the math works.
Chainimals is a blockchain game in active development since 2023. The idea is simple: collect creatures, battle with strategy, and earn ETH.The whole economy runs on Ethereum with no new tokens introduced.
We built it on Base, which keeps gas fees under a cent per transaction. Chainimals are ERC-721 NFTs with on-chain stats and abilities. When you open an egg, everything is determined on-chain and cannot be faked or manipulated. Your creature is provably yours.
The game is built around skill, not spending. Rarity tiers are purely cosmetic. A Prismatic with low stats will lose to a Normal with great stats every time. That is by design.
We are launching on Base Mainnet in Q3 2026. The testnet build is live and playable right now at app.chainimals.com if you want to see where things are heading.
The technical stack is solid and built on proven tools.
Coinbase's Ethereum Layer 2. Transactions confirm in about 2 seconds and cost under $0.01. Ethereum security without the high fees.
Standard NFT format. Compatible with OpenSea and all major wallets. Your Chainimals are real NFTs with on-chain metadata.
Stats, species, rarity, and abilities are all stored on-chain. Fully verifiable, permanent, and not dependent on any server staying up.
Minting is done by a backend wallet on your behalf. Your ETH payment is verified on-chain before anything is minted. No funny business.
The Discord is the main hub. Development updates go there first, and it is where you can ask questions, give feedback, and connect with other players before launch.
X (Twitter) gets shorter updates and announcements. Both are worth following if you want to stay in the loop without checking the site every day.
Q3 2026 on Base Mainnet. The testnet build is already live at app.chainimals.com if you want to try it out now. Follow us on Discord and X to get notified when the exact date is set.
A few ways: win PvP battles, place well in ETH prize tournaments, rank on global leaderboards for seasonal rewards, trade Chainimals on OpenSea, and earn referral royalties when people buy through your link. Everything pays out in ETH.
Tournaments are competitive events with ETH prize pools. Pay an entry fee, compete during the event period, and win ETH based on your final ranking. Categories include PvP, Collection, Breeding, and Expedition challenges.
There are multiple global leaderboards tracking different playstyles: PvP Rating (ELO-based), Collection Value, Net Worth, and Activity Score. Top players each season earn ETH rewards. You can filter by All Time or Last 30 Days.
Guilds are teams that compete together in group battles for seasonal ETH prizes. Each guild has a treasury, a role hierarchy (Master, Officer, Veteran, Member), and a chat to coordinate. You can join an existing guild or start your own.
There are three rarity tiers: Normal, Holo, and Prismatic. All three are purely cosmetic and have zero effect on stats or battle performance. The Prismatic rarity makes it a nice trophy, not a competitive advantage. Exact drop rates are not published since they may change between generations.
Yes. Eggs are tradeable on OpenSea before you open them, so you can speculate on sealed eggs. You can also buy Chainimals, breed them to create stronger offspring (burning the parents), and sell the offspring at a premium. Plenty of ways to play the market.
No. The whole game runs on ETH. No custom token to buy, no liquidity pools to worry about. Entry fees, prizes, leaderboard rewards, and guild battle prizes are all in Ethereum.
Rarity is purely cosmetic so skill actually wins, the entire economy runs on ETH with no new tokens, breeding is permanently deflationary (parents burn), and there is real strategic depth through ability and passive combinations. It is a game first, not just a collection.
Base is Coinbase's Ethereum Layer 2. Transactions take about 2 seconds and cost under a cent. It has Ethereum-level security and is easy to set up if you are already using Coinbase. It made more sense than deploying on mainnet and paying high fees on every move.
Join the Discord and be active. We share development updates there first and will announce early access to people who are already part of the community. Best place to stay informed and get involved before launch.
If this sounds like your kind of game, come hang out in the Discord. Get updates, give feedback, and be there at launch.
